The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hennings-Fischer Foundation are pleased to accept applications for the upcoming 27th annual Young Artist Competition. The competition is open to all instrumentalists (except piano) age 30 or under as of February 27th, 2027. This year's competition includes both vocal/opera and instrumental categories.
Preliminary rounds will take place on Thursday and Friday, February 25th and 26th, 2027 with the finals on Saturday, February 27th, 2027 at the Salit Conservatory of Music in Burbank, CA. The preliminaries will take place in the Salit Conservatory Recital Hall from 6-10pm. The finals will be held as a public concert with an audience in the Recital Hall at 7:00pm on Saturday, February 27th, 2027. (Free admission)
There will be one or more Grand Prize winners who will appear with the Burbank Philharmonic in an upcoming concert and receive a total cash prize of $1,000.
For instrumentalists, a full concerto from the standard repertoire is required (memorization preferred). For singers, please prepare three contrasting arias from the standard repertoire. You must bring your own accompanist to the preliminary and final rounds. If you would like to change repertoire before the competition, you do not have to contact us. Please bring one copy of a piano or solo score to the preliminary rounds. Past winners and finalists of the Burbank Philharmonic Hennings-Fischer competition include: Bass-Baritone Robert Feng, Cellist Eiline Tai, Sopranos Julie Adams and Angela Meade; Violinists Nigel Armstrong, Aubree Oliverson, Heidi & Alexis Hatch and cellist Keith Williams.
Consent and release:
By submitting an application to the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) Hennings Fischer Young Artist Competition, the applicant (and, if under 18, their parent or legal guardian) grants BPO the irrevocable right and permission to use the applicant’s name, image, likeness, voice, and any photographs, video, or audio recordings taken during the course of the program in any and all promotional, educational, and informational materials. This includes, but is not limited to, print, digital, broadcast, and online media, without restriction as to duration or territory, and without compensation.
Applicants (and, if under 18, their parent or legal guardian) further release and hold harmless BPO, its officers, employees, and representatives from any claims, demands, or liabilities arising out of or in connection with such use.
