The American Traditions Vocal Competition to be held virtually in 2021

The American Traditions Vocal Competition has announced they will change course for 2021 and hold their 28th annual vocal competition virtually.

While continuing to require singers to perform nine different genres of American music, and continuing to offer over $35,000 in prize money, the competition has made some changes to allow for this online competition.

Following the audio-only application process, 28 singers will be selected as Quarterfinalists.  Each contestant will receive $300 as either a check, to compensate them for their time and preparation, or equipment, if needed, to help them record.  There is the possibility that a combination will happen of this early compensation, based on what the needs are of each individual performer.

Each contestant will have a 45 minute preparation session with Artistic Director Mikki Sodergren to facilitate filming and recording practices.  Similarly, contestants will have sessions with their assigned pianists to create custom arrangements and tracks of all of their programmed repertoire.  There will continue to be three rounds of competition, that last online from February 9-19, 2021.

Applications are due by October 18, 2020.  Apply today!  Please reach out to Artistic Director Sodergren with any questions at msodergren@americantraditionscompetition.com
