Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, "Fabbrica" Young Artist Program: Deadline July 15!
APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOURTH EDITION OF “FABBRICA” YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM ARE NOW OPEN
WHO WE ARE
"Fabbrica" is the Young Artist Program of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. We give the opportunity to young Italian and foreign talents, already trained at conservatories and academies, to embark on an international career.
The participants of "Fabbrica" Young Artist Program are trained on the job through coachings, masterclasses, auditions, rehearsals, meetings with contemporary artists, new productions and assistance to the creative teams.
Many stage and concert opportunities are offered to the participants.
The "Fabbrica" Young Artist Program allows for a maximum of 14 participants, for the following professional profiles: 8 singers, 2 répétiteurs, 1 stage director, 1 set designer, 1 costume designer and 1 lighting designer.
Candidates must have a proven track record of professional training related to the chosen course and preferably already have some experience in the area of interest.
DURATION AND COMPENSATION
The fourth edition of “Fabbrica” Young Artist Program starts in January 2023 and ends in July 2024 (19 months).
Each participant will receive a scholarship of 19000€, to be paid out monthly.
AGE LIMIT
"Fabbrica" Young Artist Program is aimed at young artists at the beginning of their careers. The program is open to people younger than 30 years old and older than 18 years old on 01/01/2023.

APPLICATION FORM LOCATION
All participants must register via the on-line form found on “Fabbrica” website: www.fabbrica.operaroma.it – before 11:59 p.m. CET on July 15th, 2022.
REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION
Please submit the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae,
- Scan of a Proof of Identity (Passport or ID Card),
- Scan of a Bank Transfer Receipt, whose amount varies according to the application date:
60€ for applications submitted by May 15th,
80€ for applications submitted from May 16th to June 15th,
100€ for applications submitted after June 15th.
- Link of 2 arias for the online preselection (for singers),
- A portfolio with your works for the online preselection (for directors, stage designers, costume designers and lighting designers).
SELECTION PROCESS
SINGERS
The selection will occur in two phases: online preselection and live interview.
Online preselection: please send videos of 2 arias from the XVIII, XIX or XX century repertoire, with piano or orchestra accompaniment, in the original key and language. At least one aria must be in Italian.
Live audition: singers who have successfully passed the preliminary selection will be invited to audition at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma to perform five arias (which may include those performed in the video which was sent).
The five arias presented will have to be chosen from operas of the XVIII, XIX, or XX century and will preferably be of different authors and styles. The audition program will have to include at least one aria sung in Italian, one aria in French and one aria in a third language. The arias must be performed in their full length and in their original version and tonality.
RÉPÉTITEURS
All applicants will be invited for an audition at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (please look at the examination program written in the audition notice published on our website www.fabbrica.operaroma.it)
CREATIVE TEAM
The selection will occur in two phases: online preselection and live interview.
Online preselection: the preliminary selection will take place by assessing the material which has been sent for each category.
Interviews: candidates who have passed the preliminary online selection will be interviewed at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. On that occasion they will have to present their works (which may include the material sent for the online preliminary selection).
