The Summer 2017 International Lyric Academy (ILAR) offers young musicians and singers from all nations an educational and performance opportunity in Tarquinia, Italy. During several intensive weeks (July 5-25), ILAR’s emerging artists receive professional coaching and voice lessons, and participate in a full range of master classes, individualized instruction, concerts, recitals and rehearsals culminating in four performances of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO by W.A. Mozart. Productions involve full opera scenes in costume with ILAR’s Symphony Orchestra. World class training: Boston Conservatory Opera Intensive at Valencia 2017

For three weeks next summer, aspiring young opera singers from around the world will come together to participate in a unique program that offers talented singers the opportunity to hone their technical skills with world-class faculty, gain valuable performance experience in a variety of settings, and learn how to build and maintain a career in opera. One of the unique features of the program is that participants have access to Berklee's state-of-the-art recording studios. Each participant will be able to record a limited number of arias/songs for their use in applications for graduate schools or young artist programs. Berklee’s engineers will master the recordings, and the selections will be coached and accompanied by our music staff.

Full Fellowship: Toronto Summer Music Academy's 2017 Art of Song Program!

Applications are now open for Toronto Summer Music Academy's Art of Song program. This program, for a small cohort of eight singers and four pianists is devoted to the study and performance of Art Song. Participants study with all faculty members, voice and piano, thus receiving advice from a variety of musical traditions and perspectives. The session also offers detailed study of text, diction, and action coaching. This year’s Mentors include the great Finnish Soprano, Soile Isokoski, Kammersängerin of the Vienna State Opera, as well as Martin Katz, one of the world’s most celebrated collaborative pianists. Steven Philcox will be coordinating and coaching the Fellows again this summer.

The Miami Music Festival (MMF) announces the creation of The Miami Wagner Institute–an elite tuition-free program led by Metropolitan Opera soprano Christine Goerke, and preeminent Wagner specialist Kathleen Kelly for dramatic/lyrics in transition age 24-40. The Institute aims to provide much-needed training and professional-level performance opportunities for the unique demands of the dramatic Wagnerian singer. Ziering-Conlon Initiative: Expanded eligibility and $12,000 in prizes with travel provided!

Now open to U.S. and Canadian citizens and residents! The Ziering-Conlon Initiative at The Colburn School, James Conlon, Artistic Advisor, is hosting a national Art Song competition for U.S. and Canadian citizens and residents under the age of 31. This Initiative is inspired by LA Opera's "Recovered Voices" project. The objective of this competition is to introduce music of composers suppressed during the Nazi regime to young singers and collaborative pianists and to reward excellence in its performance. Il Cuore Canta Application now on YAP Tracker!

Il Cuore Canta, now in its second year, is an all-scholarship program that will be held in the charming town of Cold Spring, NY. Each participant will receive frequent individual singing lessons with Deborah Carmichael, coachings and other training, and attendance will be free of charge to attendees. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2012.

Hawaii Performing Arts Festival Application is up!

The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, a summer vocal training program on Hawai'i's beautiful Big Island, is now accepting applications for their 2013 season. Opportunities include an Italian Opera Intensive, a Baroque Opera Boot Camp, and many additional performance opportunities. Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2013, but live auditions will be held in New York as early as November 30.

Opera Theater Summerfest (Opera Theater of Pittsburgh) competition and YAP applications are up!

Opera Theater Summerfest (Opera Theater of Pittsburgh)'s Mildred Miller International Voice Competition and Young Artist Programs applications are up! The YAPs are for programs in Pittsburgh and in France, and the top prize for the competition includes $5,000, plus an optional $2,500 contract for the 2013 Opera Theater SummerFest, and a guaranteed place in the Resident Artists Program. Deadlines are October 1st for the competition and October 31st for the YAPs.

Center City Opera Theater's Application is Up!

Center City Opera Theater is now offering a combined Young Artist Program, and the good news is that all hired singers will now receive a monthly stipend!
