2011-12 Glimmerglass Festival Young Artists Program (Singer application)

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Young Artists Program at the Glimmerglass Festival.

Members of the Young Artists Program sing principal and supporting roles, cover all roles in mainstage productions (except where noted), sing in the chorus, are presented in concerts and cabarets, receive weekly coachings, participate in master classes, and perform in the community. Young Artists will also have the privilege of working with 2012 Artist in Residence, Eric Owens.

Applicants for Glimmerglass Festival's Young Artists Program must be fully available to the company from May 29 through August 25, 2012. Applicants must be United States citizens or have the right to work in the United States. Non-U.S. citizens must send a photocopy of documentary proof of right to work.

Please note that the Young Artists Program has two tracks: opera and musical theater. This application form is for both tracks. You may only audition for one track and should make audition date requests accordingly. If you are considering applying for a musical theater position, you must have extensive dance training/experience.

OPERA APPLICANT INSTRUCTIONS
Please bring a minimum of 4 selections fulfilling the following:

1) Three operatic arias in contrasting styles fulfilling these language requirements:
1 Italian, 1 French, 1 English or German

2) 1 song in English: musical theater, jazz standards, and art songs are all acceptable.

* You can feel free to bring in more than 4 selections, as well as change your selections at the audition from the original list you provide.

MUSICAL THEATER APPLICANT INSTRUCTIONS
Please bring two contrasting songs. If you have operatic training and are comfortable offering operatic repertoire, one selection may be an aria. Please enter the name of your two selections below and then enter "N/A" for all remaining, required fields.

There will be an initial dance call with callbacks on each musical theater audition day in addition to a vocal audition.

* Please note that, in an effort to assess facility with dialogue, some applicants will be asked to do a cold reading as part of the audition. This pertains to both opera and musical theater applicants. Number of selections required: 4.
