NOTE: THIS APPLICATION IS FOR SINGERS ONLY. 

We will be holding our annual live audition tour in New York City, Houston, and Cincinnati. In addition, we will be working together with other young artist programs on a coordinated virtual audition process as an option in lieu of a live audition. Steps are outlined below to guide your understanding of this shared live audition process, followed by information about our video audition process.

LIVE AUDITIONS (Glimmerglass only)

Please note that to have a live audition, you must be fully vaccinated (with proof) by your audition date. Anyone who is unable to comply must choose the video audition option.

Step 1:  Apply to The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program via the form below. Applications are due Wednesday, September 21.

Step 2: Notifications of live auditions for Glimmerglass will be sent as follows:

New York City auditions: notifications sent by Friday, October 7.

Video auditions: notifications sent by Friday, October 7. 

Houston auditions: notifications sent by Friday, October 14. 

Cincinnati auditions: notifications sent by Friday, October 14.

Step 3: Attend your live audition.

VIDEO AUDITIONS

Step 1: Apply to The Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program via the form below and select ‘Video Audition’ under ‘Preferred Audition Location’. Applications are due Sunday, September 11. 

Step 2: Notifications of video auditions will be sent by each company by Friday, October 7. This notification will contain a link to submit a new aria list.

Step 3: Submit your aria list (one list for all programs), indicating your chosen “starter” aria, by Tuesday, October 11. 

Step 4: Notification of requested arias from your list (one request for all programs) will be uploaded to your YAP Tracker application on Wednesday, October 19. 

Step 5: Record a new video audition and submit the video to each company via YAP Tracker by Friday, November 4.

Professional References

Please give details of three artistic authorities (directors, conductors, coaches, voice teachers, administrators) with whom you have worked and who may act as references. Only one of your references may be a voice teacher. No written recommendations are accepted.

Video Selections

Please upload 2-5 videos; 1 must be an opera aria and the others may be opera, art song, musical theater, etc. of your choice. The videos must be no more than 12 months old.

Please verify that all video files work before submitting. Video files that do not work will result in a voided application. Minimum number of selections permitted: 2. Maximum number of selections permitted: 5

You must be signed in to add videos.
Preliminary audition repertoire must show a variety of styles and be offered in at least three different languages including English. Operetta and oratorio arias are acceptable.
- 3 opera arias
- 1 musical theater piece
- 5th selection can be another aria, art song, or other piece of your choice
If you are interested in a role or cover in a particular production in the 2023 season, you are welcome (but not required) to prepare a piece from that work.

* Please note that it is acceptable to change audition repertoire for the live audition from what is listed on the application.
* Repertoire selections must satisfy these requirements for the application to be considered.
