Singers

Singers have the option of submitting a recorded video or scheduling a live audition; both options are available within this application.

Each singer should offer three contrasting arias, one of which must be in French. In addition, singers are asked to read aloud the text to their French aria. Singers are strongly recommended to offer appropriate arias from The Magic Flute (in German) if they wish to be considered for solo roles in that production.

For live singing auditions, each candidate will begin with the aria of his/her choice. The next selection(s) will be chosen by the Lyric Arts France representative. An accompanist will be provided at each live audition, although candidates are free to bring their own. All live audition slots will be 8-10 minutes.

Singers are encouraged to act out and perform as fully as possible all of their choices, both recorded and live: please feel free to move about the room, not stay rooted to the piano, and convince us of your acting ability as much as of your singing ability and musicianship!

Pianists

Pianists have the option of submitting a recorded video or scheduling a live audition; both options are availanle within this application.

Each pianist should offer the accompaniment for each of the following selections:

  • The Composer's Aria ("Sein wir wieder gut") from Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos
  • First 15 pages of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème
  • A French aria of their own choosing

Pianists should be prepared also to sing out (loudly!!) vocal lines while playing, and to read aloud the text to their French aria.

Stage Directors

Stage directors have the option of scheduling a live interview in an existing audition location or arranging for an online interview.

Directors should have available any portfolios they have with photographs or DVDs of productions directed and be prepared to talk about the concepts underlying their design and production choices.

Stage Managers/Arts Administrators

Prospective stage managers and arts administration candidate will be contacted to schedule an online interview at your convenience.
