Detroit Opera Resident Artist Program (2024-2025)

Detroit Opera will be holding its annual live audition tour in New York City and Detroit. We encourage live auditions whenever possible, but welcome those who are not available or unable to sing in-person at one of our audition locations to apply for a video audition.

Step 1: The Application deadline is Friday, September 22nd. The application for virtual auditions and live auditions is the same. Notifications of auditions granted will be sent by Saturday, October 14.

Step 2: Once you are granted an audition, you may self-select any two arias for your video audition, but please be mindful to submit contrasting selections. This can be achieved by considering style, character, language, and tempo. Select arias that will give us the widest view of your artistry and voice. Please introduce yourself by verbally announcing your name, the date of your recording, and each selection before you sing. Your video must be recorded on or after October 14, 2023. Please do not edit together multiple videos, and if at all possible, work with a live pianist.

Step 3: Submit your video audition via YAP Tracker by Sunday, November 12, 11:59pm (PST).

Step 2: Once granted a live audition, please use the self-scheduling function to select your audition time and city. If you need to change your time, or there isn't a time available that works for you, please email residentartist@detroitopera.org and we will try to make an accommodation. If you have found someone to switch times with you, please also email so we can update your time in YAP Tracker.
