Opera Ensemble applicants

3 operatic arias:

One aria must be by Mozart or his contemporaries
One aria must be with recitative
One Italian art song may be substituted for an aria.
One of the three selections must be in Italian

Opera Studio applicants

2 operatic arias:

One aria must be in Italian
One art song may be substituted for an aria.

Singers are required to provide their own accompanist.

Collaborative Piano and Continuo:

One movement of a piano sonata by Beethoven, Haydn, or Mozart, or a solo work which is representative of middle- or late- Romantic style, and two opera arias, in a collaborative performance with a singer provided by you.

NOTE: Chorus applicants and all intern applicants are not required to audition. Maximum number of selections permitted: 3

Singers are strongly encouraged to do a live audition. You may submit a video (DVD) recording if you live more than 450 km (250 miles) from the audition site and are not performing a live audition. Maximum number of selections permitted: 3

Singers (except Chorus applicants) and Pianists: Please list three musical references (one of which must be your primary teacher). Chorus applicants: Please provide name, phone number and email address of your current Choir Director or Voice Teacher. All internship applicants: Please list three work references. For Chorus Applicants Only: Letter of Reference

Include a written proposal of 100-250 words, indicating what you hope to achieve as a participant of the Independent Study Program for Singers or Independent Study Program for Teachers. Please discuss areas in which you would specifically like to focus, whether it be a role study, any technical issues, or other specific opportunities for personal and professional growth.

* Opera Ensemble applicants must apply prior to November 29th. All applicants that apply prior to November 29th, 2014 will automatically be considered for scholarships. Other programs may apply with recorded submissions and will be accepted until February 28th, 2015. Such programs include: Opera Studio, Independent Studies Program, Piano/Continue Collaboration, Internships, etc. After February 28th, 2015, applications may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
