The Butler School of Music is proud to announce the Butler Opera International Competition. The BOI will competitively select the five gifted pre-professional singers who are ready to launch their careers in opera. The finalists will travel to the University of Texas in Austin, where they will be presented in concert with the Round Rock Symphony, conducted by Stefan Sanders.

The deadline for singers to apply is March 1st, 2018. Semi-finalists will be announced March 15th, and finalists will be announced on March 30th. For the competition, finalists are expected to arrive in Austin on August 29th. Rehearsals begin on August 30th. The concert will be held on September 2nd at 4 pm followed by a reception.

The prizes include international recognition, a professional-grade HD audio and video recording with orchestra as well as $3,000 USD awarded to each finalist. We will also provide an mp3 DVD recording.
